Social Media and Community Manager Internship
Who is m8buy?
m8buy is an interactive social layer, integrated onto any e-commerce store, that allows you to shop with your friends in return for rewards like cashback on your orders - how cool!
We were born out of the Antler June 2020 cohort in Sydney, the worlds largest pre-seed accelerator and VC platform. We're based out of the Sydney Start-up Hub and are rapidly expanding our team. We have received funding and are busy building our product for retailers across Fashion, Cosmetics and Footwear.
We are on the search for marketing interns who will work directly with the founders on social media and community management in return for getting experience and responsibility in building m8buy with us from the ground up.
Our intention for the internship is to trial working with each other. If you can demonstrate you have what it takes then you have first dibs on joining the team on a salary as part of the first members of the m8buy team.
About the internship
We sit in the middle of a very engaged online shopping community and our retail partners that we help enable m8buy on. Our shoppers are, in the first instance, Gen Z and Millennials. Our shoppers are super aware, believe in paying for good value and have probably grown up in an online first world that is inherently social. Our retail partners have online stores covering the world of fashion, footwear, cosmetics and accessories. They all have an online presence and regularly engage with their shoppers socially.
We are looking for a natural community leader to work with the founders to grow m8buy's engagement with shoppers and brands worldwide and ultimately define how our brand is viewed in the world.
What you will do?
- Engage: speak with our audience of shoppers and brands on Instagram, Twitter, Tik Tok and LinkedIn. You will listen to the voice of our community and translate to the broader team. We wish to understand our users really well and you will be the eyes and ears on the ground to relay that feedback.
- Create: You have a good understanding of our audience - using those insights you will create, design and schedule social posts. You are fairly creative and can whip up great visual and audio content (we have a designer to help you so an ability to design is a plus but not a deal breaker). We have also been using Canva but you are free to use any tools you like.
- Listen, interact and test: You will help us build our product in public with our users. You will be helping us user test our product features, components and share these insights. You love interacting with people and are comfortable talking to people online and in person to understand their user experience.
- Ideate and challenge beliefs: We want you to challenge the status quo, have an opinion in terms of the product that we are building and based on the data you have from interaction with users. We also want you to come up with innovative ideas for social enagement, for our blog and vlog posts, for TikTok videos, online events, IG polls etc.
What we are looking for
- You just love being on Tik Tok and Insta all day long creating cool, fun content.
- You have built or managed an audience or a community, either via your own personal brand (e.g. personal IG/TikTok) or other examples. You just love being on Tik Tok and Insta all day long...
- You enjoy engaging and talking with people. You are also empathetic and often put yourself in the shoes of others.
- You like to shop, preferably online - who doesn't?
- You can creatively design via online or software tools.
- You can write pretty well - tell us a story...
