The current architecture for identifying job types on the Livepeer network relies on off-chain heuristics—primarily monitoring known gateways through external tools like the Dune dashboard. While this works for now, it doesn’t scale well as the network grows. To enable more granular tracking, analytics, and potentially fee structuring by job type (e.g., VOD vs. AI), we propose adding this information to the Ticket to allow job-type distinction on-chain (e.g. auxData or new field).
This change is primarily targeted at enabling deeper insight into protocol usage, improving resource allocation strategies, and facilitating differentiated billing or prioritization for different workloads.
