The root problem with conventional currency is all the trust that's required to make it work. The central bank must be trusted not to debase the currency, but the history of fiat currencies is full of breaches of that trust. Banks must be trusted to hold our money and transfer it electronically, but they lend it out in waves of credit bubbles with barely a fraction in reserve. We have to trust them with our privacy, trust them not to let identity thieves drain our accounts. Their massive overhead costs make micropayments impossible.
We struggle in our current financial system.
Finance benefits the privileged and burdens the poor, exposes our private information, and restricts our freedom to hold and transfer value. None of these should be acceptable for us.
Since the system has these flaws by design, we cannot fix them from within. We must build a new financial world.

I’ve been following Bitcoin since 2017, with most recently understanding its value in a broader macroeconomic context around 2020. I am incredibly passionate about it and want to see it change the world. I will die on this hill.
I am a software engineer who works at a Sillicon Valley tech company. I have a decent amount of experience in operations and am confident I can run a highly-available and performant node.
I am still a newbie in the lightning space and am spending my free time devouring as many resources as possible and connecting to as many people as possible.
With that said, I plan to keep my fees low. base @ 0 (#zerobasefee) and ppm as low as possible, for the foreseeable future. I am likely to use ppm as a way to influence traffic to help rebalance
For now I will be playing with a smaller capacity (I don’t consider Umbrel incredibly secure) as I learn the ropes of things.
I’m investing here for the long term. I believe lightning will be 10x larger in the next 5 years, and I want to be a key part of that.
It is a great opportunity to be able to play a key role at this early stage, hence I am more than ready to operate at a loss for a few years.
