we took a boat to the island of levanzo. once there, we took a land rover to the path to the cave (it was a really bumpy ride). the path down to the cave was rocky, but beautiful. in the cave, we saw cave paintings and carvings. it was so cool. thinking of the people creating that artwork, living such different lives than i am now, not even fathoming that their art would last thousands of years…its fascinating. it’s so hard to comprehend. the tour guide was great too; you could tell he loves his job. we hiked back up the mountain, got into the land rover to go back to the city, and had a quick lunch at a cafe before walking to the beach. this beach was a rocky beach, which i think i prefer to a sandy beach. the water was cold and very clear blue. there was coral, fish, crabs, snails, and even an octopus. the octopus grabbed on to sara’s leg and it was so funny. i used lauren’s snorkel to look at the ocean while swimming. i looked for sea glass as well before getting out to lay in the sun. we ate some snacks, tanned, collected sea glass, skipped rocks, and hung out for a couple hours before leaving to go wait for our boat back to the mainland. while waiting, we saw movie trucks by the dock. apparently, they had just finished shooting a scene for a movie. we rode the boat back to trapani, changed, and went to eat dinner. after dinner i worked on my journal for a bit before going to bed.
