The asset register is an essential part of any ISMS (Information Security Management System).
You probably already have various sources of information about assets in your company. You may find details about smartphones and laptops in Mobile Device Management or in the HR tool. Servers and storage in monitoring or in the cloud asset overview.
It makes sense to create a high-level list to document information such as responsibilities and classification. This is the purpose of this asset register.
