Overview

Dragonshards in the world of Eberron are used to store energy of three distinct types: Eberron, Khyber, and Siberys. See https://eberron.fandom.com/wiki/Dragonshard

• Eberron dragonshards have a broad spectrum of uses (including powering warforged and creating magic items) and provide raw power.
• Khyber dragonshards are related to binding powers such as elementals and are used in lightning rails and some types of airships.
• Siberys dragonshards are the rarest of the three, and are primarily used to enhance dragonmark abilities.

Finding Dragonshards

Make a DC 23 Insight (Wis) or Nature (Int) check to discover the presence of a dragonshard deposit in a 200 ft radius area. Spending more or less time on the activity of searching, as well as other factors such as elemental storms, affect the DC of this check at the DM's discretion. Certain magical items, such as the Shard Tracer Goggles used by top members of House Tharask, can add a bonus to these checks. Due to their potential to increase wealth, these items are guarded very closely and fetch a high price on the black market.

On a success, roll a d10 on the Dragonshard Type table to determine the type of dragonshard found based on your location, then roll another d10 on the Dragonshard Size & Value table to determine the size of the dragonshard deposit you are able to excavate.
