If you’ve read a lot on Less Wrong you might have a sense of what Rationality means.

Getting curious to read valuable information.

Evaluating the evidence.

Writing about new ideas.

Requesting and giving feedback.

And so on...

In game design they talk about what the verbs of a game is, that is how does a player interact with the game. Not necessarily with inputs, but something happening in their minds potentially combined with input that, in the case of games, is supposed to be fun/engaging etc.

Rationality is a lot about learning by researching, but that’s includes just some of the verbs.

E.g. LessWrong’s design makes some of these Rationality Verbs more salient than others.

The distribution isn’t necessarily the best fit for each and every user of LessWrong.

Some people need a designed system that help them see Rationality Verbs like: “Get things done”, more than “Read about niche topic”.

The difficulty of making a perfect Taxonomy/Onthology shouldn’t stop us from trying to identify more of the key Rationality Verbs, and create design with more affordances for these.
