Teams that manage a website or social media account for IREX need to give administrative access to IT and Strategic Communications, in case there is an emergency.

This applies to the following types of accounts:

• Content management systems (such as WordPress, Joomla, Drupal) for websites
• Servers
• Domain names (an internet address, such as www.irex.org)
• Social media accounts

Scope

This policy applies to IREX websites and social media accounts.

Rationale

Giving IT and Strategic Communications admin access ahead of time improves the chances that IREX can address problems quickly if there is an emergency (e.g., if an important digital property breaks or becomes compromised). In addition, granting admin access to IT and Strategic Communications allows IREX to retain access to digital properties as employees join and leave the organization.
