If you would like to buy a domain name (an internet address, such as www.irex.org), check whether the name is available and then contact IT at [email protected]. IT will work with you to buy the domain name.
This policy applies to websites that teams create on behalf of IREX.
In the past, employees bought domain names on their own, which meant that IREX tended to lose access to its websites as employees left the organization. This practice also made it difficult to conduct routine maintenance on domain names, since domain names were located under dozens of different accounts rather than under a single account.
Buying new domain names through IT will help ensure that IREX can retain access to its websites, maintain the accounts in an efficient way, and protect privacy.
