Intro to Digital Product Design (sometimes abbreviated as Intro to DPD or DPD) is a 7-week long, 2 credits S/U class where students will be introduced to the field of UI/UX and product design. We'll be covering the fundamentals of product thinking, interaction design, and visual design. During the course, students will ideate solutions for existing applications and execute thoughtful solutions with Figma.

The course schedule below provides a brief overview of the lectures and what we'll talk about. Each lecture has an assignment and section that goes along with it.
This is a project-based class that typically requires 10-12 hours per week outside of class. You will work on 8 assignments, which will culminate into a final project by the end of the course. TAs will provide feedback on the assignments each week.
This course includes two weekly lectures and critique groups. The Lectures will focus on teaching concepts and overarching skills. The Workshops will focus on 30-minute demos and hands-on application of the lecture topic. Lectures will take place synchronously each week. Lecture attendance is mandatory.
Critique groups will be smaller, more intimate settings where students will review their work with an assigned TA and get personalized feedback each week. Critique group timings will be on Sunday at 2:30 to 3:30 pm EST or Monday at 6:00 to 7:00 pm EST. Critique attendance is required, and there are 2 excused absences for the semester.
There are no exams for this class. Your grade will simply be the average of the 8 assignments you complete throughout the course. However, the final assignment is mandatory – you will not pass the course if you do not complete it.
