With teams based in Toronto and San Francisco (current headcount 13, growing to 30 by EOY), the company is growing quickly ($1M ARR in revenue, 500% growth in 2022) and under dedicated leadership. All goals have been achieved capital efficiently, currently with 3+ years of runway.

The Position

Based in Toronto, the Vice President, Marketing (“VP”) will be a critical member of Accord’s Senior Leadership Team – reporting directly to CEO / Founder, Ross Rich. Joining at this inflection point, the VP will be accountable for Accord’s Marketing strategy (across Demand Gen, Content, Product Marketing, Brand, etc) and delivering outsized revenue growth in partnership with Sales. To support this anticipated scale, the VP will be responsible for building a high-performing team & culture. The VP will lead their org in modern demand gen strategies (a mix of product-led, sales-led, and marketing-led activities) to generate reliable pipeline & develop a winning brand in the market. From refining Accord’s positioning, developing the company’s ecosystem, to increasing funnel conversion rates, the VP will implement proven process, infrastructure, and operations to drive predictable success.

This executive role requires strong leadership capabilities and a marketing background, coupled with results in high-growth, early-stage environments. An experienced team player & mentor, this leader will bring a proven ability to attract, develop and retain best-in-class marketing talent. 12-18 Month Deliverables

A passionate and authentic leader, the VP has developed trust at all levels of the business – building strong relationships with their reports & leadership peers. They have quickly established themselves as a top contributor on the Executive Team, taking complete ownership of their OKRs, team, budget, and ensuring coordination across Sales, Product, and Customer Success.

Consistently building pipeline across diversified channels, the VP has supported the business in achieving 2.5x revenue growth year over year with industry-leading efficiency (from $1M → $2.5M ARR yr 1, then $2.5M → $6M+ yr 2). They’ve demonstrated the adaptability to evolve Accord’s positioning from smaller companies / deals ($10k - $50k) to larger, up-market enterprises / six-figure partnerships.

In 2023, 80% of new revenue will result from inbound marketing efforts, with an in-house team of 3-4 marketers (likely senior ICs across demand gen, content, and partnership/community, plus contractors as-needed). In 2024, the VP will be responsible for 70% of new revenue coming from inbound marketing, continuing to develop their team to hit the targets.

The VP has evaluated the existing team and structure against current and future business requirements, building an empowered, energized and high-performance marketing function aligned with Accord’s strategic vision.

To support the marketing organization’s growing goals, they have implemented foundational methodologies & metrics, institutionalizing a repeatable playbook to reliably hit pipeline targets. Critical to success will be the executive’s experience with all aspects of modern marketing, particularly Product Marketing & Demand Generation for product-led GTM motions.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has a minimum of 5+ years of Marketing Leadership experience (Director, VP), with a proven track record of effectively positioning products, generating qualified pipeline, ideally gained in a similarly fast-paced, high-growth B2B technology space.

The VP will bring demonstrated success operating in an entrepreneurial, ideally Founder-led business, and is comfortable managing the ‘high highs’ and ‘low lows’ of an early-stage business. Ideally, the VP has led or been highly involved in the evolution of a marketing organization from Series A to scalability.

They effectively translate strategy into concrete plans, inspiring confidence across the organization. The VP successfully converts annual and quarterly plans into action plans and initiatives in a fast-changing environment.

The ideal candidate will execute with focus and is not afraid to take risks, doubling down on important pieces of the marketing dashboard and cutting those that fail to create value. They will experiment with multiple channels and utilize their strengths and weaknesses for further growth.

The VP consistently leads by example and can inspire and empower a team to succeed and deliver beyond their potential. With a flexible and adaptable approach, the ideal candidate balances being both the best marketer outright, as well as leader of the team.
