General Call for Volunteers

IGDA NYC is seeking volunteers to help with chapter operations!

The chapter relies on its members to function effectively, and we need your help. Volunteering is a great way to make contacts and contribute to the community, and it looks great on a resume. With elections on the way, it's also a good first step toward chapter leadership.

If you're looking to get involved but none of these roles seems like the right fit, you can join our volunteer mailing list for general calls, or contact us at [email protected] to chat about ways to help. We'd love to hear from you!

Open positions:

Jobs Czar

As Jobs Czar, you'll be responsible for keeping the Jobs and Opportunities board full and up-to-date. In addition to making posts from leads provided internally, you will also be asked to curate your own independent sources and actively locate new opportunities to share.

This is an ideal position for someone who is currently on the job market and already frequenting job boards and mailing lists for leads. You should be willing and able to commit a small amount of time on a weekly basis to making posts, occasionally contacting posters/employers, and maintaining listings.

Community Managers

We're seeking one or multiple community managers to maintain groups, communicate with members, and perform light moderation duties primarily on our Discord, with the potential to extend to Twitter, Fecebook/Meetup, and member correspondence.

You must maintain an active presence on the group(s) you manage. The most basic responsibilities are to keep an eye out, respond to member queries, and rapidly alert us to any issues. Beyond that, we would love to have someone who can spark conversation and build community in our online venues. Community management experience and an outgoing personality are a big plus.

This is a great, high-visibility role for someone looking to make connections and have a positive impact on the community.

Contributing Editors, Calendar

We are seeking editors to contribute event listings to our public Google calendars. You will be asked to create listings from internal leads, as well as locate and post new events independently from external sources such as Meetup groups or mailing lists, while conforming to calendar posting guidelines.

You must be responsive over email to post new events reasonably quickly, and able to devote an hour or two spread out over the month.
