Make sure your song has been delivered to Spotify. If you don’t have much window between your upload with CDBaby and the actual release, just claim your Spotify profile when the song releases. But if you followed my advice and set your release 6 weeks in advance, then you’ll have time to do this. You can find out if your song has been delivered to the stores and is just waiting for release by going to your CDBaby dashboard and clicking on your title, scrolling down to Distribution and then to Partner Delivery. If your release has been delivered to Spotify for at least 48 hours, then proceed.

<aside> 💾 You need to get whats called a “Spotify URI code” from CDBaby and you’ll have to submit a request for it here:

Submit a request – CD Baby Help Center

  1. In the first dropdown menu, select “Contact CDBaby.”
  2. In the second dropdown menu, select "Spotify URI/Pre-Save Request."
  3. Fill in the rest of the fields. Your bar code can be found in your CDBaby account in your title overview page.

It may take a few days to get a response. Once you get the URI code, go to Spotify for Artists and claim your page directly. You should come to a screen like this:

Select "Artist or manager" to continue to claim your profile. Next, Spotify will ask you to log in. You need to have at least a free Spotify account to use Spotify for Artists. Go ahead and log in with your existing Spotify account or sign up.
