Empowerment is hard to reach - especially for high school students. Constrained by a system in which grades and scores seem to matter more than practical contributions, it's hard for students to realize that there is no minimum age to make an impact. It's also important to note that many labs bar students from opportunities - Computer Science knows no labs. A quick search can allow you to realize the superpower that is programming and develop the next big thing.
We know that ideas don't magically appear. In the same vein, nor do solutions - unless there's an incentive. Prizes? Sure. Food? Yeah. Stickers? Yep. Super Hack is a hackathon that incentivizes exploration: even if a participant doesn't win, every single one of them will take an idea home. Understandably, not all ideas are groundbreaking. If these students continue developing their ideas, we bet they'll find something.
Nope - in the Bay Area, it is said that a hackathon happens almost every week. Down in SoCal? Almost never. We're proud to announce that our hackathon, Super Hack, is the first all-inclusive high-school hackathon in San Diego. Period. With companies like Qualcomm, Cricket, and Illumina calling San Diego home, there's definitely a demand for events such as ours. After all, many of the high-school students of today may be the leaders of tomorrow - why hold them back now when they can actively engage in industry?
Super Hack will be held on March 21, 2020 at ResMed's headquarters in San Diego (9001 Spectrum Center Blvd, San Diego, CA 92123). The event spans a full twelve hours which, while shorter than most hackathons, gives attendees the chance to form teams, build cool projects, attend informative workshops, and call it a day.
