Hacker Guide

Urban Hacks is a Hackathon bringing together over 150 students from across the GTA to use [Hamilton open source city data](<http://open.hamilton.ca>) to prototype and design solutions to major urban challenges.

The theme for our hackathon is "urban development", hence the name "Urban Hacks". For the period of the event you will have access to the City of Hamilton Open Data Platform, which you can access from open.hamilton.ca. While not necessary, we encourage you to build apps around our theme. You may choose to build an app that revolutionizes transit, or design an effective new way to visualize the data that we already have, and to make it more accessible. While you’re still welcome to build whatever you choose to, we implore you to focus on how your hack could make our municipalities better, in whatever way possible.
