Intro to OKRs

Our actions as contributors to Gro DAO determine Gro’s future. It is crucial that we make conscious and informed choices about how we prioritise our time and efforts such that they are aligned with the DAO’s mission of “making Web3 more accessible”.

Accordingly, OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) are the manifestations of these choices and can help coordinate our actions to achieve this collective mission.

In essence, OKRs are a popular and collaborative goal-setting methodology used by teams and individuals to communicate what they want to accomplish and what milestones need to meet in order to accomplish it.

Definitions

Objectives

These are the “Whats.”  They should:

• Express goals and intents
• Be action-oriented
• Be tangible, objective, and unambiguous; it should be obvious to a rational observer whether an objective has been achieved
• Align with the organisation’s mission
• Provide clear value for the project if successfully achieved
• Run over a longer period (i.e. a quarter or longer), compared to their encompassing key-results

Key Results

These are the “Hows.” They should:

• Benchmark and monitor how objectives are achieved, via measurable and verifiable milestones
• Be specific and time-bound
• Be aggressive yet realistic
• Describe outcomes, not activities
• Evolve as the work progresses, especially for longer-lived objectives
