This project utilizes the Ghanaian government system and supports Ghana’s national STEM agenda by enhancing the capacity of math and science teachers, improving student achievement in STEM subjects, and strengthening school management and operations.
The Government of Ghana recognizes STEM education as the foundation for national development and innovation, and aims to become a leading country in Africa in the fields of STEM and innovation.
To expand the national STEM talent pool, the government is building a comprehensive STEM pipeline, including the establishment of STEM centers and new STEM model high schools, along with the conversion of existing schools into STEM-focused institutions.

This project is primarily being implemented in 10 beneficiary districts across the Central and Eastern regions, with the goal of promoting female participation in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) sector. It specifically aims to increase students’ engagement in STEM by expanding opportunities in mathematics and science education at the Junior High School (JHS) level.
