We’re a lean team spread across North America, making an impact on the way small businesses can save. We’re looking for a full-time Head of Credit to join our team and own the Credit Department and its initiatives. This position reports directly to the CEO and founder and will be an integral part of building Mercantile.
As the Head of Credit of Mercantile, you will:
- Own the Credit Department, its performance, roadmap, and initiatives
- Implement, customize and monitor 3rd party underwriting models for our specific client base
- Build underwriting models that best adapt to each SMB vertical
- Implement risk metric monitoring by researching & resolving risk events and developing strategies to mitigate risk factors
- Develop and implement long term underwriting strategies that creates value for the company
- Evaluate industry research to draw relevant conclusions on material strengths and risks of Mercantile’s underwriting model
- Work with our Issuing Bank on Mercantile's risk strategy
- Look at our client transaction data to make more accurate, real-time, and fluid decisions on their credit limits
- Research emerging underwriting and fraud trends to innovate on Mercantile’s decisioning systems and policies
- Educate Mercantile on underwriting and risk strategies
You could be a fit if you have:
- 6-10 years of experience in small business and consumer lending & risk management
- Experience building underwriting/risk models from scratch
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Experience building and leading teams
