With a weak infrastructure currently supporting regenerative startup projects the failure rate of projects is high.
Projects are often under financed with weak business models not expressing long term survival capacity. The driving force behind projects are often deep passion and engagement. Those factors combined has shown to be a perfect recipe for burnout and hopelessness, threatening the vitality of the ecosystem.
Many small to medium size projects express a need and want to connect with other projects in order to exchange ideas and strengthen each other. The strength of one project matches the weakness of another and vice versa. Apart from that many regenerative projects display similar needs as “regular” startups in early stages: access to financing, access to markets, marketing, packaging, staffing, recruiting, general business and management including economics, board work, book keeping, legal matters, etc. Projects focusing on sustainability/regeneration also express a need to find external support in areas a “regular” startup would regard as their core business: concept development, business development, graphical design etc.
Food Shift is planning to launch an accelerator program supporting these regenerative startups, increasing their chances to success while at the same time strengthening the whole ecosystem.
