Effective from 24 October 2023
Protocol Owner: Coronavirus Response Team
This protocol is for services where contact can be minimized or eliminated. This may be because of a known infection or illness, including COVID-19.
Important: If the Member is a confirmed case of COVID-19, you must also follow the COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedure - Scenario 4.
Before you shop
The goal of this phase is to set expectations by ensuring you and the Member are prepared and that you canprovide the shopping service as quickly and efficiently as possible.
- Consider the timing of shopping, i.e. consider most quiet times.
- Agree on the time to shop for the Member*.*
- Identify the closest supermarket.
- Ask the Member if assistance is required to bring groceries into the home and/or unpack groceries.
- Advise the Member bags will be purchased at the time of shopping to reduce contact.
- Advise the Member that we can use EFTPOS/debit cards utilising the Tap & Go / payWave function only to a maximum of $150.
- Ensure a list is prepared and encourage it to be enough to last a short while.
- Advise the Member we need to shop within current supermarket purchase guidelines, e.g. product number restrictions, as this may affect the duration of service (if applicable).
- Plan location and time of collection of the card and shopping list. It is preferable for the list to be given over the phone prior to the shop.
- Plan location for drop-off of shopping. Ask for the location to be clean and in the shade.
