This resource comes with an invitation, and a warning.

I'd like to invite you to dive deeply into exploring the ways digital planning and apps can improve your life, but I can't in good conscience do that without also warning you about the trap of shiny object syndrome, and app addiction.

Remember that no app, system, or product is perfect, and that nothing external can ever bring you peace! When searching for the next shiny new or better thing becomes a distraction from actually doing the work the thing is supposed to help with, it's time to pause for a moment, then simplify.

Sometimes the best tool is the one right in front of you, and sometimes that might just be a piece of paper. Cutting down the amount of paper we use in everyday life is a good thing, but that doesn't have to mean never using it again.

Learn to use the right tool for the right job, and recognise that this might shift over time.

If all this sounds like a whole lot of over-thinking to you, then congratulations—you're not an app addict!

You can read about my recovery from app addiction, here. While that article focuses on productivity rather than notes apps, the same principles apply.
