The Challenge

The Outcome

Research and co-design a blockchain token network in a week

Enabling everyone to participate in decentralised staking networks

Token networks and reimagining investment for everyone

As a team of cross-functional experts condensing years of product and UX design experience, we focus on projects at the bleeding edge of technology which have massive potential for transformative effects in the world.

Our client ConsenSys are the leaders in the space in funding and spinning off products and services and have at its helm one of the co-founders of Ethereum, which enabled blockchain as a philosophy and technology to take off. They are "building the infrastructure, applications, and practices that enable a decentralized world," now doing this with the successor to Token Foundry, Activate.

Redesigning onboarding for impact and maximum usability

ConsenSys were interested in recreating an effective way for token funded projects to launch well. They will do so with Activate - a platform which would be populated by vetted, interested and non-speculative token purchasers participating in the network. Activate would handle the entire token lifecycle, from onboarding, to participation, to off-ramp.

We at Deep Work had two main challenges within this, the first of which was designing a solution which would assure purchasers that the increased level of involvement and friction would actually benefit their capital at risk. The second was to ensure Activate could seed networks with the right types of purchasers (i.e. dedicated token holders) rather than uninterested, purely or mainly speculative participants who don't care about the project to be funded.

How Activate works

The real impact of this platform lies in incentivising active, educated involvement with no speculative intent. Former token-powered networks and project launches have suffered in the recent past from blind speculation, with its users not caring about what the project represents. This would enable everyone to participate in decentralised networks with real impact.
