I research human dignity’s relationship with medical law and ethics in the realm of decision-making legitimacy. I do this comparatively across England & Wales and Germany. My focus is predominantly on how we make decisions for those who are unable to, considering concepts such as human dignity which might inform the process by which these decisions are taken.

My PhD thesis explores this through an examination of the best interests frameworks in England and Wales set against the presumed will (mutmaßlicher Wille) approach in Germany.
