Customer.io needs a builder 🏗 VP of Sales to fill an important gap on our leadership team and accelerate our company from $10m to $50m a year and beyond.
At Customer.io we believe that businesses who create strong relationships with their customers will outperform the ones that don’t.
We’re working to make Customer.io the default choice for any internet business to deliver great, automated customer experiences at scale. Customer.io is used by over 1200 businesses to create continuity after a person leaves a website or mobile app. Every message (receipts, win-backs, and on boarding) across every channel (email, push, sms and more) can be managed and measured in Customer.io.
Who you'll work with
The main people you'll interact with are: the CEO, the CMO, the balance of the leadership team, the Sales Team, Customer Success and Operations.
What you should believe in to work here
- Remote sales teams can outperform colocated sales teams - Our company is distributed and high performing. We expect our sales team to grow like this too.
- Product led wins in the long run - Sales feedback is critical as an input in to what we build, but we won’t change the product to win a sale.
- Customer needs come first - If we believe we’re great for the customer, and the customer agrees, we’ll win the deal. However, if we’re not right, we’d rather create a fan by recommending a better solution than risk an unhappy outcome that tarnishes our reputation.
- Diverse companies perform better - This one is less of a belief and more of a fact. It’s important to everyone in our company that our team looks like our customers: people of every nationality, ethnicity, geography, gender.
Experience requirements
This is a senior and critical position in the company with the following demonstrated skills being critical.
- You’ve worked in a business with $2000 - $100,000 ACV and higher customers. Most of our deals today are between $2,000 and $50,000 ACV but we do get some higher.
- You’ve recruited and managed a sales team of at least 10 at a company with > $20m a year in revenue. I'd like to find someone who's been a little further than we are today and can help us see around corners.
