Everybody deserves access to a fair, efficient, and digital financial system.

CuraDAI is a digital community currency that leverages the latest open financial tools built on blockchain technology to create a digital, stable, and transparent currency that matches the local currency of Curaçao in terms of the unit of account. CuraDAI is 100% backed by Dai, a digital currency soft-pegged to the US Dollar and is used to fund sustainable development on the island.

CuraDAI operates on the Ethereum blockchain, one of the largest and most secure blockchains. The token can be transferred in a peer 2 peer manner, with transactions costing on average $1 and taking about 10-15 seconds to verify.

CuraDAI is designed to function as a complement to the Netherlands Antillean Guilder (Dutch: Gulden), the local currency of Curaçao and Sint Maarten.

<aside> 💡 CuraDAI tokens can ONLY be created by locking digital Dollars (Dai) in the CuraDAI contract. This means that 1 CuraDAI is always redeemable for $0.57.

The CuraDAI protocol is built on open-source software and all contracts, collateral, and transactions can be audited on the blockchain.

Hands-on with CuraDAI

The best way to learn about CuraDAI is by using and experiencing it. In the following section, we will teach you how to store, receive, send, and use CuraDAI.

1. Creating a wallet

Before being able to receive CuraDAI you will need to create a digital wallet. Creating a digital wallet is quick and free and doesn't require any specific knowledge. Most people prefer having their wallet on their mobile device, but it's also possible to have a wallet on your desktop.

First, we're going to download the Trust Wallet (Android / IOS) application on our phone. Head over to your app store and download the latest version of Trust Wallet.

When you open up the Trust Wallet application press "create a new wallet" if you do not have a Cryptocurrency wallet yet. You're now going to create a new wallet, this is an important moment. Make sure to be in a comfortable space and take about 5 minutes for this task. After pressing the acknowledge box and continue you will see 12 words written on your screen. These 12 words are called a Seed Phrase and is the only way to retrieve your wallet if you ever lose access. Write the 12 words down on a piece of paper or store them somewhere safe on an offline device. When you are 100% sure that you have written it down securely, you can go to the next page where you will have to fill in your 12 words to check if you wrote it down correctly.

Pabien, you now own a Digital wallet and are ready to receive and send digital currencies such as CuraDAI! 🎉

<aside> ⚠️ Because there is no central party involved, you are personally responsible for securing your wallet. The 12 words you receive when you create your wallet are called a Seed Phrase and is the only way to retrieve your wallet if you ever lose access. Write it down on a piece of paper or store it somewhere offline.

Make sure to never share your seed phrase with someone else, as they could use it to steal your wallet's funds!

2. Adding CuraDAI

If you already own cryptocurrencies you can start adding your coins into Trust Wallet, otherwise follow the next steps to add CuraDAI to your wallet.

First we're going to press on the White + sign in the top-right corner of the screen. Here we're going to write "Curadai" in the search bar above. When CuraDAI appears press it so the button moves to the right. CuraDAI is now added to your Trust wallet.

3. Receiving CuraDAI

You now have CuraDAI added to your wallet and are ready to receive your first CuraDAI. First, press on CuraDAI in the home screen of your Trust Wallet app. Now select the receive option. A window with a QR code and 3 options will open up. Under the QR code, you can see a written code, in our example, it starts with "0xe7Bb...", this is your unique public address, which is similar to a username or street address. Your public address is used by other people to send you digital currencies.

The first option "copy" will allow you to copy your public address so you can send it to other people. The Set Amount option will allow you to create a payment request for a specific amount of CuraDAI. The Share option will allow you to easily share you public address via chat apps.

You likely do not own any cryptocurrencies or CuraDAI yet. Luckily, we're giving away 10 CuraDAI and 0.01 ETH to the first 100 people who follow this tutorial.

1. In your trust wallet press on CuraDAI, press receive and finally press copy. You have now copied your public address (the address of your wallet other people can send digital currencies to).
