Step 1

Create a content area on your Blackboard page titled “Classroom teaching” or the number of the week (or something else depending on your existing structure).

Step 2

Within the newly created area, create one content folder titled “Classroom teaching”, week X”. In the folder description, add your estimation of the time to be spent covering the material and any deadlines. Add a date and time for a live meeting, if any.

Step 3

Access the content folder and create a new item with written instructions or an instructional video that guides students in how to proceed and what to expect of the lecture or week. For the instructional video, use Panopto and add the video to the item. Number the item number 1.

Step 4

Add a new item that describes any required readings. Number the item number 2.

Step 5

Build the lecture using Panopto to create videos in which you talk over a walk-through of the programme on your computer. Remember to make videos that are no more than 10 minutes long. Define a topic or a focus for each video. Add the videos to a new item area on Blackboard and number the item number 3. Add a description of the content and purpose of each video.

Step 6

Add one or several assignments or activities to the module in which students apply their skills and knowledge. Create an item for each, and remember to number these, add deadlines and instructions on the follow-up.

Step 7

Finally, you might set up a live meeting for a regular Q&A session where students can talk with the teaching assistant, and the TA provides feedback on the student assignments. Use Zoom for this.

In the end, your Blackboard page might look something like this:
