Why Learn Together?

How we learn, share, practice, deliberate, dream, imagine and grow collectively is at the heart of how we are designing the work of CIVIC SQUARE, and getting to the heart of new economic possibilities will be crucial to how we thrive and flourish together in our increasingly divided and challenging future(s) ahead.

Learning together as peers allows for more horizontal structures, with everyone having skills, wisdom, knowledges, histories, ideas and more to bring into the round. Everyone has something to learn and something to contribute. We want to nurture relationships and exchange between peers rather than simply teacher and pupil dynamics, as well as recognising the plurality of ways in which we all learn, and what it means to learn together.

Re-imagining Economic Possibilities

As part of our open invitations to this movement, we have begun to host, convene and support a diverse range of learning circles, in the first instance diving deeply into seminal texts and writings by expert authors such as Doughnut Economics and Braiding Sweetgrass. Together we have been building the collective knowledge, confidence and ideas to take the words off the page, and turn them into transformative action in our homes, streets, and neighbourhoods. Explore the past invitations below to see our activity and framing for this so far, as well as an exciting open invitation in partnership with Centric Lab and Centre For Alternative Technology as we go deeper.
