About Bankuet

Bankuet is an award-winning social impact start-up that empowers food banks with digital tools to resource their work. We are the UK's first zero waste food donation platform. Our vision is of a UK where no-one goes hungry. Our mission is to get food banks what they need, when they need it and make it easier for donors to give, because people are going hungry and we want that to stop! We all wish food banks didn’t exist but for now they do and it’s time to help.

We were founded in 2019 with Wandsworth food bank, where our Founder and CEO, Robin Ferris, has volunteered for nearly 2 years. He noticed a gap in the supply chain: the food bank received too many donations of over-stocked items and not enough under-stocked items. By the end of 2019 we were working with 10 food banks, and had shipped 15k items - enough food to feed 500 people - with zero waste because we were getting the food bank exactly what they needed.

When Covid-19 hit the UK in March 2020, Bankuet found itself in a unique position to help thousands of people. We scaled up nationally in response to the pandemic and now support 200 food banks in 70 cities across the UK.

We've now seen over £2.5m donated visa the platform and every week during the pandemic Bankuet was relied upon to deliver food to food banks across the UK and we didn't miss a single delivery. All this has been made possible thanks to the generous public and a resilient remote-working team.

Social Impact

When someone walks into a food bank, they are often doing so for complicated and complex reasons. Bankuet does not claim to provide a holistic solution, our aim is to serve and support the incredible work that food banks are already doing across the country by stabilising the supply chain and making food donation more efficient. In this way, we release value and time for both donor and food bank, which can be reinvested in the community.
