Goal: Publish one piece a month.
Each session we will spend time going around the group and listening to everyone's pitch for their next article. The goal of this group thinking is to walk away with a clear picture of what you want to write.
Common Templates for writing:
- Mistakes and lessons: point out the caution signs and direct where to go instead.
- Frameworks: Name a problem, create actionable steps, celebrate outcome.
- The future: Assert a position, provide supporting material.
- Thought pieces: Share a point of view. Old paradigm vs. New, move the reader from where they are to where you want them to be.
- Myths: Insider information, what people need to know, or what they get wrong.
The Pitch:
- Create a structural outline of your piece or be able to describe the arc of the narrative (link in table as a shareable document).
- What do you want to communicate to the reader? What is story you are trying to share with reader, or how bring them on a journey?
- Prompts to Challenge Pitches:
- What do you mean when you say that?
- Can you put some bones on that idea for me?
- Can you tell a story to illustrate that?
