simple, low-mess, low-cost ideas you can do today.

a little note

these are the activities that have actually worked in our home — the ones that bought me 20 minutes of peace, made my baby laugh, or turned into a beautiful instagram moment without much effort.

most use things you already have. nothing fancy required.

🎨 sensory & art

edible finger paints

ages: 6 months and up

you need: plain yogurt, food coloring, a tray or paper, a baby who's hungry to make a mess

how: mix a few drops of food coloring into small dollops of yogurt. let baby paint with their hands. it's safe to taste. it's beautiful. it's chaos. it's all three.

tip: do it in a high chair with a sheet underneath. take photos from above for the dreamiest shot.

rice sensory bin

ages: 10 months and up (with supervision)

you need: a tray or shallow bin, dry rice (a few cups), small cups, spoons, scoops

how: pour the rice in. add scoops, cups, small toys. let baby pour, scoop, dump. for color, soak rice in a few drops of food coloring + a splash of vinegar, then dry on a tray overnight.

tip: a sheet under the tray makes cleanup 10x easier. shake the sheet outside.
