The outcomes of good planning are:

1) Avoid surprises late in the quarter

Work backwards from where you want to be to avoid surprises. We should know as early as possible in the quarter if we are not on track.

2) Avoid business as usual

Use creativity constraints to allocate time and resources in new ways.
