What is This?

The Saghe Talaie Index (STI) is a fun and informal method of keeping track of the price of the Saghe Talaie biscuit with the aim of measuring the annual inflation rate. It also gives us a better understanding of purchasing power and the local economy.

This is a personal project that cannot be used as the basis for any formal conclusion.

Current Status

Currently, the price of a classic 200-gram Saghe Talaie pack (the one in the picture above) is 16,000 Tomans, which has increased by 60% compared to the same period last year.

Saghe Talaie Purchasing Power

How many Saghe Talaies can you buy with the minimum wage?

Saghe Talaie Purchasing Power (STPP) is determined by dividing the minimum monthly wage approved by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of Iran by the price of one pack of the Saghe Talaie.
