1. ACCEPTANCE By downloading or using anu, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. ELIGIBILITY You must be at least 18 years old to use anu. By using the app, you confirm you meet this requirement.
3. NOT MEDICAL ADVICE anu is a motivational recovery companion app. It is NOT a medical device, clinical service, or substitute for professional mental health or medical care. Nova, our AI companion powered by Anthropic's Claude API, is not a licensed therapist, counselor, or medical professional. Nothing in anu constitutes medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek the advice of a qualified healthcare provider for questions about addiction or mental health.
4. AI FEATURES Nova uses Anthropic's Claude AI (claude-haiku-4-5), a third-party pre-trained model. When you chat with Nova, your messages and recovery profile summary are sent to Anthropic's servers to generate responses. By using Nova, you consent to this data transfer. Conversations are not permanently stored on our servers.
5. CRISIS SITUATIONS If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a medical emergency, call 911. For mental health crises, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line). anu is not an emergency service.
6. SUBSCRIPTION & PAYMENTS anu offers a 7-day free trial followed by a paid subscription. Available plans:
Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Manage or cancel subscriptions in iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
7. DATA & PRIVACY Your journal entries, check-ins, and workbook answers are stored locally on your device only. We do not sell your personal data. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
8. ACCEPTABLE USE You agree not to use anu to harm yourself or others, to impersonate others, to attempt to access our systems without authorization, or to use the app for any unlawful purpose.
9. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY All content, design, and code in anu is owned by anu Technologies. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the app without written permission.
10. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY To the fullest extent permitted by law, anu Technologies shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.
11. GOVERNING LAW These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, United States.
12. CHANGES We may update these Terms. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. We will notify you of significant changes through the app.
