Project Overview

This project was based on a design challenge to help reimagine the visual language of cybersecurity—a project of the Hewlett Foundation Cyber Initiative to educate and inform people about the importance of cyber security. Our team was tasked to redesign or develop a concept to further the Foundation’s vision.

My Role

As a team we performed a variety of user experience research including user interviews, contextual inquries, affinity mapping, and competitor analysis. Independently I was tasked as the Project Lead setting up a project timeline via Notion so the team is informed of all the tasks and deadlines.

Project Timeline & Brief

Our team decided on using Notion as the main resource for us to stay organized. I created a table-themed timeline to keep track of all our project documentation. See our teams project timeline here. Our team had two weeks to complete this project. We decided that the best option to complete the project objectives is to split the time frame into two part according to the Double Diamond Method. Week 1 would be the Discover and Define Phase. Week 2 would be the Develop and Deliver Phase.

Interview Prep

Our team prepared the interview prep based on our target users. Our primary goal was understand if there were diffrences with understanding cyber security between users who had a tech or IT background versus users who had no cyber security knowledge. The reason we wanted to test these two groups is because of visuals are interpreted based on relevant experence and knowledge.

Visuals are interpreted based on relevant experience and knowledge.

The main goals of the interviews was to determine what users already know about cyber security, what they didnt know, and their interpretation of “effective” cyber security images.
