At Finward (“the app”, “we”), the security and transparent processing of your personal data matter. This policy explains what data is collected when you use the Finward mobile app, how it is used, and your rights.
Data Controller
The Finward app is provided by developer Alperen Çetin. For privacy-related questions: alperencetin0@hotmail.com
Data We Collect
Data you create in the app
- Income and expense entries (amount, date, category, note, location – if you grant location permission)
• Budgets and targets (e.g. monthly target, salary)
• Debt / credit records and due dates
• Location reminders (name, address, message, coordinates)
• Categories and your preferences
This data is stored primarily on your device (local storage). If you are signed in to iCloud and iCloud is enabled for the app, the app may sync this data across your Apple devices using Apple’s iCloud and CloudKit (private database). In that case, a copy of your data is processed and stored by Apple on Apple’s systems under your Apple ID — not on servers operated by Finward. We do not receive your income, expense, budget or debt content on our own servers.
Automatic or technical data
- Device information: OS version, device model (may be used for crash reports or app improvement; if the app uses Apple’s standard tools, this data may go to Apple).
• Location: Only when you grant permission; used for expense location logging and location reminders. Location data is not sent to our servers; processing happens on your device.
• Notifications: Used to send reminders and alerts; when you grant permission, notifications are scheduled on your device.
• Crash data and analytics: To improve app stability, detect errors and improve app functionality, we may collect and use crash reports, performance data and anonymous usage statistics (e.g. via Apple's tools or similar analytics tools). This data does not include your income/expense, budget or debt content; it is processed only for technical and anonymous usage purposes.
Third parties
- Apple: The app is downloaded via the App Store; payment and (if applicable) Apple account information are subject to Apple’s privacy policy. If in-app crash or performance data is collected via Apple’s tools, that data may go to Apple. If you use iCloud sync, Apple processes and stores your app data for sync purposes under Apple’s iCloud and CloudKit terms and privacy policy.
Finward does not sell or share your data with third parties for advertising or marketing.
How We Use Your Data
- To provide income, expense and budget tracking
• To manage debt/credit and reminders
- • To sync your data across your devices when you use iCloud (via Apple’s services)
• To provide location reminders and (when permitted) expense location logging
• To run the app, debug and improve it (on device or, where applicable, using anonymous/technical data)
• To improve app stability and functionality using crash and analytics data
• To comply with legal obligations
Storage and Security
•Your personal finance data is stored on your device. If iCloud sync is active, encrypted sync data is also held by Apple for your Apple ID as described above. Optional full-device backup (e.g. iCloud Backup) is separate and depends on your device and Apple account settings.
• Data is protected by your device’s local security (lock screen, passcode, etc.) and, for iCloud, by Apple’s security measures for iCloud.
• If the app offers an option such as “delete all data”, that removes local data on the device. Copies in your iCloud private database may remain until removed through your Apple account / iCloud settings or until overwritten by sync; Apple’s policies and tools apply. Data held by third parties (e.g. Apple) is subject to their policy and your own deletion choices.
