After a lengthy report and analysis of the MakerDAO governance system, we've developed a few options to analyze and participate in moving forward.

The three topics of analysis will include In-Forum Poll Signaling, Mobile RocketChat Voting, and Batched Voting. Each section below details a high-level spec with roadmap and budget.

Mobile RocketChat Notifications

The Abridged toolkit allows us to configure new forms of contract interactions, such as mobile voting. Our goal with this project is to make voting notifications and functions accessible to any MKR holder via mobile. Security is top of mind for this project, and in order to limit risk we will build a system with limited change to what currently exists. Prior to beginning this development option, our team needs to work with the IDChief development team to understand any upcoming updates to the voting contract.

Steps for the end userflow include account linking, a notification configuration, and a voting system.

In-Forum Poll Signaling

The poll voting system in Maker governance is a precursor to the executive vote. LFW discusses an even lighter process than poll voting here.

The governance process for Maker today is heavy. Users need to move to the Maker voting interface to submit multiple votes, dig through forum posts to understand what is happening, wait for the blockchain to acknowledge their transaction, and pay significant gas fees along the way. Building poll signaling into the Maker forum provides a low friction, feeless way to take a count prior to voting. This system creates a simple first step for the governance process, prior to submitting a proposal in a formal way.
