Yonghyun Gwon
Motion AI Research · 3D Engine · Simulation · AI Integration · Platform / Backend
- My work spans AI, real-time 3D systems, simulation, and software engineering.
- I have worked on generative motion research, Unity/Unreal-based simulation systems, XR/HCI prototypes, real-time visualization, networked applications, backend development, and AI model deployment.
- These experiences have trained me to work across technically demanding domains by understanding the underlying models, system architecture, data flow, and failure modes, then turning that understanding into working software.

Professional Experience
FunctionBay / MetaMotion X — Simulation / Digital Twin Developer
Jul 2024 – Aug 2025 · Pangyo Techno Valley, South Korea
FunctionBay division later became MetaMotion X, and the work continued on the same defense-linked Unity simulation project.
- Extended and refactored the Unity simulation replay/logging system, covering replay playback/recording flow, replay UI behavior, event-state tracking, and log storage/extraction logic while replacing hard-coded log handling with a class-based structure, typed log categories, and common interface-level access.
- Improved runtime traceability for multi-PC simulation runs by addressing log-missing, duplicate-recording, file I/O, and extraction issues around replay/event data.
- Implemented adjacent simulation features, including Unity Netcode synchronization, route/path visualization, client-side 2D/3D UI, and a UE5 physics-based virtual-camera demo framework.
- Supported software-engineering delivery through STD writing, unit testing, bug reproduction, fix verification, and Redmine-based issue tracking.
M5ERS — Backend Intern
Nov 2024 – Feb 2025 · Remote & San Jose, CA, USA
- Built a Node.js / Express backend for an FPGA-based mining-hardware prototype, structuring API logic around route, controller, and service layers.
- Connected backend API calls to a C UART control process so server-side requests could trigger low-level hardware register read/write operations.
- Implemented and tested the C-side command loop, including UART routing, command/response formatting, and backend-hardware integration debugging.
Republic of Korea Army — UNIX Server Operator
May 2021 – Nov 2022 · The 1st Logistic Support Command, South Korea
- Operated UNIX servers for a military C4I intranet, handling security checks, log audits, backups, access control, and system troubleshooting.
- Managed user-terminal access and help-desk requests across internal military units.
- Supported routine network and infrastructure checks involving routers, switches, terminals, and internal systems under command procedures.
Research Experience
Visual Science Lab (VSLab), Kyung Hee University — Undergraduate Research Assistant
Jul 2025 – Feb 2026 · Advisor: Prof. MyeongAh Cho
- Conducted research on text-guided Human-Human Interaction motion generation, proposing Word-Motion Cross Attention for word-level text-motion alignment and extending the work into graduation-thesis analysis of contact, distance, synchronization, and relative motion.
- As first author of a KSC 2025 paper, improved InterHuman text-motion retrieval by +2.3 / +3.4 / +3.2 points on R-Precision Top-1/2/3 while maintaining MM-Dist.
- Contributed to ParTY, a CVPR 2026 text-to-motion paper, by comparing generated motions across HumanML3D, MoMask, ParCO, and ParTY under matched prompts and seeds to inspect prompt adherence and failure cases.
- Improved ParTY’s qualitative motion figures through body-part coloring, controlled camera setup, SSAO, anti-aliasing, high-resolution rendering, and qualitative-example curation.
Interactive Technology & Methodology Lab, Kyung Hee University — Research Contributor
Apr–Jul 2024; Sep–Dec 2024 · Advisor: Prof. Seungjae Oh
- Built Unity VR experiment components for SkinHaptics, a CHI 2025 self-haptic interaction study, including soft-object deformation, distance-based attenuation, and hand-tracking-based interaction controls.
- Contributed to CrossGaussian, a UIST Adjunct 2025 / ISMAR 2025 remote-collaboration project, through early Cross-Reality research framing, 360° capture-to-3DGS workflow investigation, and Unity-side client sharing tests for live 360° scene data.
