Below is an ideal and simple timeline of events and initiatives you can hold. We do understand that every program, school, and demographic is unique. So, for a detailed timeline, tailored to your program and its goals, we encourage you to work with your YPC to create one.
Summer
- Hold a team retreat to discuss plans for the upcoming year
- Plan out a list of events you would like to hold throughout the year
- Use rest of timeline as an example for types of events to hold
- Make a list of areas businesses students can go to for in-kind and monetary donations
- Make sure to reach out early and follow up consistently as needed
- Create goals for various aspects, like fundraising, recruitment, and for events
September - Recruitment and Awareness
- September is CCAM (Childhood Cancer Awareness Month). Push for awareness and utilize the color yellow, the color of Pediatric Cancer
- Get as many students to sign up for Team Raiser
- Use effective marketing to spread awareness of the cause
- Set up a table at lunch, go to homerooms, or even plan an event to get students to register
October - Initial Involvement
- Hold a Day of Miracles Event by the end of October
- Day of Miracles should focus on getting students registered and introduce them to fundraising techniques
- Keep reaching out to businesses for donations
- Hold a school wide fundraiser to get everyone involved, and invite the families to participate!
November and December - Awareness and Fundraising
- Hold an awareness event around the end of November or early December
- Invite a Miracle Family to your event
- Consider making it free and open to the community because we want to reach as many people about the cause as we can
- Consider holding a fundraising event at some point as well to really kick start fundraising
- Continue reaching out to businesses for donations
