COPD
hyperinflation - most common finding
flattening of diaphragm
elongated or tubular-shpaed heart
Increased AP diameter, or "barel chest"
may show bullae
Pneumonia
silhouette sign may be seen
chronic fibrosis - terms = reticular-nodular and honeycombing (more advanced)
Congestive Heart Failure
Pulmonary vascular congestion or "cephalization"
cardiomegaly
Kerley B lines - represent fluid in the interlobular septa
effusion
CXR To check position of Lines and Tubes
proper position of the tip of an ET tube is 1-2 cm above the carina
The tip of central venous line = at the junction of the SVC and the right atrium (at the point where the right main bronchus is seen)
Air Under the Diaphragm
Upright film
