Intro of the Fluvina I System

Fluvina I System

The Fluvina I System consists of the star Fluvina I and the countless celestial bodies bound by its gravity. It was formed approximately 5.4 billion years ago. Fluvina I is a G-type main-sequence star (yellow dwarf), orbited by six terrestrial planets and one ice planet.

The Okilok Human Federation discovered the Fluvina I System around 140 years ago and conducted a comprehensive scan of its contents. This scan revealed one planet with a pre–faster-than-light civilization (Fluvina II) and six mineral-rich worlds. Within five years, the Federation began full-scale development of the Fluvina I System and initiated Second Contact with the pre-FTL civilization on Fluvina II, known as the Fluvinans. Approximately 120 years ago, the Federation launched the Ringworld Project in the Fluvina I System, which continues to this day.

The Destroyed World: Fluvina II

About 120 years ago, the Ringworld megastructure plan was approved, with the construction site set in the Fluvina I system.  The main reasons were:

  1. The star is a G-type dwarf with stable activity and a suitable habitable zone.

  2. The system's gravity is stable, with no gas giants or multiple stars to interfere with Ringworld operations.

  3. The planets in the Fluvina I system are all small, making planetary demolition feasible.

  4. The system contains many metal-rich planets, providing needed materials for Ringworld construction.

  5. Fluvina II was a D-6 class habitable planet, covered in hot swamps and shallows, making terraforming difficult.

The Okilok Human Federation then began full contact with the Fluvinians and documented their civilization and planet.  Geological data, climate, species, civilization, social system, history, and genetic samples were collected and stored in the Okilok Galactic Library.

90 years ago, after basic cleanup of Fluvina II (according to the Federation’s standard life-contact protocols), demolition of the system’s planets began from the innermost outward, except for Fluvina II and two planets closest to Fluvina I. Fragments of Fluvina IV (the third planet in the system) hit Fluvina II seven months later, rapidly heating its oceans and wiping out 98% of surface life.  Around 60 years ago, Fluvina II’s three moons were destroyed.  Six months later, when Fluvina II reached its designated position, it too was destroyed.

The Civilization of Fluvinian

The Fluvinian civilization was the only pre-FTL (faster-than-light) civilization on Fluvina II. Before contact with the Okilok Human Federation, their society was at the late Iron Age stage, socail organized under a tribal council system. The Fluvinians lived between toxic tropical shallows and mudflats, relying on unique algae species and the animals that fed on them for basic agriculture. They had mastered basic metalworking and biological electricity generation, and were transitioning from the Iron Age to a semi-electric age.

The Fluvinians

Fluvinians are a branch of the Genus 'Homo', Subfamily 'Homininae', originating from the gene-editing craze of the Dark Empire. They are a hybrid species created from human DNA and native life on Fluvina II. Their human DNA content ranges between 77% and 93%, classifying them as a subhuman species. Though reproductively isolated from humans, their genes are highly compatible for secondary editing.

Fluvinians have blue-green skin with pale yellow markings; some groups show light purple tones. They have no body hair—instead, they possess hardened epithelial structures and fin-like features for movement and heat dissipation in shallow waters. Their exposed rear brain has striped neural structures used for pheromone release. Most notably, they have six symmetrical breathing ports—located at the collarbone, throat, and ribs—used for respiration, sound production, and mating displays.

Fluvinians have two sexes. Males have longer, single-structured foreheads, orange-colored rear neural structures and valve membranes, and more robust bodies. Females have shorter foreheads divided into two segments, with pink-purple neural structures and valves, and a slimmer build.
