Personally, I've found that typing @ and then creating a 'sub page' for the big things and then sub pages inside that page for more things is most efficient. i.e. I have a characters page and then all characters linked inside that. then you can come back to this menu and press @ and it will create the icon + slanted arrow, meaning it's linked to a notion page :). easy.
