The tech team
The Mood business has three main parts: Tech, Marketing, and Operations. The tech and marketing teams are fully remote across EU and US timezones. The operations team works from our 30,000 square foot warehouse in Oklahoma City.
Our tech team includes engineering, design, and product management. We strongly believe the best results come from using all our skillsets.
Tech team principles:
- Speak to users AND be data-driven: we start with individual customer interviews - deeply understanding their needs and creating hypotheses of how to add value. We then build and test quickly leveraging our 300,000+ customers and significant traffic to test at scale.
- Buy over build: We focus on moving fast. In 2023, many parts of the eCommerce stack are mature. When possible we get a competitive advantage by using off-the-shelf systems and integrating them properly.
- Cross-functional collaboration: We start with our core product trio (engineering, design, product management) working closely to build delightful features that impact the bottom line. We then extend this collaboration across the company, including customer support, data analysts, and operations, to create an incredible customer experience.

- Work directly on and with the business. Mood is just over a year old and our tech team interacts with all the departments. This is a unique opportunity to learn the nuts and bolts of rapidly scaling a business. Deciding what we build means getting deep into the business goals as well as the UX/technical considerations.
