Work item Network outputs relationships between multiple work items without relying on a single source item.

It builds a network from a filtered scope of work items, revealing how work items interact and connect across teams or projects. This model helps uncover hidden interactions, identify potential bottlenecks, and provides a broad, context-aware view of dependencies.

The outcome provides a network map that tells teams a comprehensive perspective on how work items relate to each other, supporting planning, coordination, and overall analysis.

Map Setup

Once the page is open, you can refine the dependency map using:

These controls are described in detail in their respective documentation sections.

Detect Source from Network

Switch from Network to a source-based model. After the network map is generated, you can select any work item and set it as the source.

Once selected, Visual Dependencies automatically redirects to the Work Item Dependencies model and rebuilds the map with the chosen work item (as the current source). This lets you seamlessly move from a broad, network-level view to a focused one.
