Why Amazon (Kindle) and Rakuten (Kobo) haven't done it?

Their main priority is remaining a monopoly in the book retail space. They want only new book sales, without giving users a more affordable option to access the content.

Amazon is the biggest book retailer in the world, and is a dominant player in the eBook space. Amazon hasn't developed their own secondary market because it's not in their best interest.

When you buy a book on Kindle, you don't own it, you just own a license to read it on the Kindle App and Kindle hardware.

With the launch of Facebook’s “Metaverse”, there’s been a huge boom in popularity for NFT’s going forward in the future of technology. Amazon and other competitors choose not to have a secondary market to increase new e-Book sales to earn a higher %.
