Instrumental Rationality

Being instrumental to others

Why Instrumentally, not Instrumental?

Inspired by naming of the book Transcend, the author explained he named it transcend and not trancendence, because transcend is something you do, not something that happens to you. Not exactly the same, but Instrumental sounds like something you are, while Instrumentally sound more like how you’re doing something. I’m aspiring to strive to act more instrumentally.

Also it makes the word become two chunks: instrument & ally.

Many product names have short names with few syllables. I think the important part is the chunks however. If people remember instrument and ally, they probably remember the name more easily than a short but a bit arcane name.

Instruments / Tools

Instrumentally

People seem to use the word tool to describe actionable models. Instead of arguing with that I thought I could use a synonym, instrument.

Ally
