The park has a noticeable biological biodiversity that helps the surrounding ecosystems to thrive. With the recent natural disasters and absence of human disturbances due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is interesting to observe how the environment has changed or evolved in that short time period.
The park has a 2,600 ft boardwalk the travels along a portion of the Edisto River. The initial reason for choosing the Edisto River location was primarily due to the easy access to the park during the day. The area is open to the public from 7 am to 7 pm, so it will be relatively easy to do field observations and documentations.
Based on previous visits to the gardens and the nature park a few years ago, there are a variety of plants and wildlife that utilize the surrounding habitat.
With any ecosystem that thrives successfully, there is always some evidence of biodiversity within the surrounding environments. Biodiversity allows for species to increase their overall productivity. With the concept of biodiversity, the idea of intrinsic value was termed to describe the importance of the species to humans other than their monetary value.
