Hi peeps - my name's Tamara and I'm the founder of Berlin Boss Babes.

When I created the community in the summer of 2020 I would have never thought that such big and amazing things would happen within such a short amount of time!

By now I know that this is only the beginning, and I'm super thrilled to continue accelerating the professional and financial advancement of women!

If you're curious to learn more about me and the journey that led me here, read on ...

ABOUT MY UPBRINGING

I'm 37 years old and grew up in a small town in Rheinland-Pfalz.

I was a typical immigrant child. I grew up alone with my mum who is from Poland. She made a huge effort to raise me as the "perfect German kid", and we didn't even speak Polish at home which made it hard for me to truly connect to my Polish culture and heritage for some time.

My dad was not in the picture during my upbringing. He's Filipino and lives in the US and I probably look much more like him than like my mum which always caused me to struggle with my own identity, especially being a woman of color. I tried to connect with him in my early 20s but unfortunately, it turned out a massive shit show and we never managed to have a functional relationship.

I moved to Berlin in 2003 to study Political Science, and between 2011 and 2018 I lived in Warsaw to connect with the Polish part of my identity. When I moved to Warsaw I also changed my career from political science to talent management, and I finally learned how to speak Polish properly and taught myself the written language, too.

ABOUT MY CAREER & BUSINESSES

I have been a talent manager and career coach for +10 years now.

During my early career I worked for some of the most renowned talent consultancies, such as Korn Ferry and Hays Talent Solutions. In my role as a consultant I advised and coached more than 1000 candidates on how to prepare job application documents successfully and how to convert interviews into job offers. I also consulted companies on the best talent attraction strategies. I staffed teams and managed hyper-growth projects for big corporate players such as Carlsberg, HSBC, Goldman Sachs, DLA Piper, Schneider Electric, and more. I discovered my passion for leadership early on and became a people manager in 2012. Up until now I have managed teams and business units of up to 20 people. Another area that I covered to during my consultancy times was talent assessment and development. I immediately fell in love with it discovering and fostering talent and high potentials, and this is actually where the seed was planted for my dream of building my own coaching business one day. My personal highlight was co-hosting a global series of assessment and development seminars for Becton Dickinson.

In 2018 I made a change from the corporate world to the startup and VC industry. I built a tech venture from scratch together with a leading investment firm.

After having been heavily exposed to the tech industry I tried to establish my own tech-teams-as-a-service business called Accolade in 2019. That was a super important chapter for me because it taught me lots about self-employment, and it was a wonderful opportunity to put my skills in sales and client excellence to test. I gave up the business after realizing that I wanted to be an entrepreneur in a field that truly mattered to me, and that wasn't tech.

I founded my coaching business in 2019 and developed it as a side hustle while supporting a variety of startups and scaleups, such as momox, aeyde and nilo.health, with bespoke talent acquisition, management and development strategies.

In 2020, I founded Berlin Boss Babes, though it started out as a passion project on social media and not a business. As the community grew, so did I. Apart from acting as a leader, coach and mentor, I also managed all processes around creative, marketing, events and sales.

In the summer of 2021, I committed full-time to Berlin Boss Babes.

ABOUT MY PERSONAL LIFE

In my free time, I love spending time in nature and with animals and often I struggle with the hustle and bustle of the big city.

I discovered my passion for hiking a couple of years ago and my biggest adventure has been trekking in the Himalayas in 2019.

I'm a book worm and usually, I read several books at the same time, jumping between fiction and non-fiction.
