<aside> 🦋 Whitelisting on Curve is basically Curve allowing you to Lock CRV’s , As of right now it’s impossible to lock CRV’s without the approval of CurveDA. You need permission from Curve to interact with the smart contract.

CurveDAO is having a vote on whether or not the Whitelisting should be abandoned.

Why would you keep the whitelist on Curve?

• Better protection of the DAO against parasitic members of the market : Basically a spam filter
• Better control over overall distribution of veCRV token
• Beneficial at the beginning, as numbers are low, any ill-intentioned Actor could create havoc with high liquidity.
• It’s been working well so far, why change something that’s not broken
• Some random cvx fork can print tokens and LPs might move there

Why would you take it off ?

• In a DeFi environment, it doesn't make sense to be centralizing or/and gatekeeping newcomers .All parties should be able to play any side of a trade, Curve has been around for a year and now is strong enough to not need Training wheels anymore.
• Keeping WL shows weakness and insecurity in what has been built so far
• Permissionless access to VeCRV is a must in a free market
