The author’s purpose is to persuade the audience that the “brand” of your college degree does not make up who you are intrinsically, and it will not hinder the opportunities you are able to get with your own merits and determination.

The intended audience of Frank Bruni’s book is upcoming high school students and their parents who are looking at the “best” college options.

<aside> 🤦🏻‍♀️ it's funny bc our high school was a rat race; love that we didn't blink twice about this book assuming we were still all going to college (because hey — we all assumed that too)
