Whatsapp UX Case Study Poster.png

Overview

This UX concept reimagines call privacy on WhatsApp by addressing a critical flaw in group voice calls. Users often miss subtle audio cues when a previously dialed participant joins late, leaving private conversations vulnerable to unintentional eavesdropping. The redesign introduces a ****permission-based join system with clear visual, auditory, and haptic feedback. By putting users back in control of who enters their calls, the solution restores confidence, enhances trust, and strengthens WhatsApp’s reputation as a secure communication platform.

Problem

Current WhatsApp group call flows create a privacy gap:

Result: Conversations lose their sense of safety, leading to trust issues and reduced confidence in WhatsApp as a secure messaging app.

Solution

I designed a Permission-Based Call Join System for WhatsApp that requires initiators to approve late join requests, reinforces awareness with louder audio, visual, and haptic cues, and integrates accessibility features to ensure inclusivity. This approach restores user trust, enhances call privacy, and ensures no participant can ever join silently.
